Featuring members of the magnificent Strap the Button, Sweet Potato are a Bristol based group who make complexly nimble rock music. Their tunes come full to the brim with propulsive jazz rhythms, operatic (dare we say Patton-esque?) vocals and enormous riffs. Taking off where Black Sabbath stopped with Fairies Wear Boots, they make jazz metal at its finest.
Like a less pastoral Canterbury Scene record, Mash relentlessly perverts generic conventions- rocking like a mother and bewildering and overjoying in equal abundance.
